i don't do New Year's resolutions but I do do New Year's soul searching. What makes my heart beat a little faster? Are there habits or choices that pull me away from my loves? Is there a positive change I could initiate and commit to? My reflection this January has evolved into three areas.
I love to write = Make space for writing. Write something attainable, not a novel. So I started writing haikus. I'm in third grade all over again 5-7-5, thank you very much Mrs. Sellmyer. It's fun and makes me happy.
I tend to over function. No judgment to myself but seriously time to slow it down mama. You are not as necessary as your stress level is acting like you are. Say no. Say yes when you want to. Be the mom who inspires independence in her kids. Be a leader who empowers and encourages others.
I teach yoga and I have felt so unyoga a lot of the time, uncentered, out of balance, not in touch with my own love. I am rooting into my true north. For me, this is my foundational connection to a gracious, compassionate, steady God and knowing that I know that I am loved because God is love so how could it be any other way? Connecting to my compass empowers my yoga to be expressive and true and radiating in all directions. According to my yoga teacher Shiva Rea, this energetic principle is the vyana, a radiating, multidirectional, free, liberating, powerful kind of energy.
Root into what guides you home, back to yourself. And then vyana that connection into up down in out around through vyana love.
